Their photos show that they are blissfully delighted with life with their newborn, but it seems Jamie and Jools Oliver have been struggling behind the scenes.

Celebrity chef Jamie revealed that the couple have employed a night nurse, after late nights with son River left them ‘battered’.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Jamie said: “It’s really, really hard – whether it’s your first or your fifth. It hit us hard this year, really hard. For the first time ever I’ve got a night nurse, and she started literally a week ago.”

He added: “We got battered for five weeks…I was trying to help out and do the night feed and then go and do 15 hours of filming…and that was tough, I’ve got to say.”

Describing sleep deprivation as ‘the most incredible form of torture’, Jamie admitted that the pressure of dealing with the teen issues (Poppy is 14, and Daisy is 13) on top of looking after a newborn have proven challenging.

Jamie’s latest comments come just days after he joked that he would need to go and get ‘spayed’ after becoming a father-of-five.
