While some may argue there is no 'secret' to a happy marriage, it looks like this much-loved actor thinks there definitely is when it comes to his relationship, and recently he was more than happy to share it!
Opening up about his marriage to Camilla Alves, whom he married in 2012, True Detective star Matthew McConaughey admitted that he and the mother of his three children established what worked for them and never tried to change each other.
Speaking to InStyle magazine at the Mack, Jack &McConaughey fundraising gala, the Dallas Buyer's Club actor said: "We got into our relationship because we really admired and were turned on by who the other person was before we met them, before we got together."
Focussing on the importance of knowing yourself before embarking on a relationship with someone else, the star continued by saying: "And we do not try to change each other other."
Paying tribute to his wife for supporting and encouraging him, Matthew admitted: "If anything, she pushed me to be more of myself and I hope I do the same for her."
Matthew, who is dad to Levi, Vida and Livingston, said being a good father involves showing his children how important their mother is, asserting: "The best thing you could probably do as a father is make sure they see how you love their mother."
Sounds like the Alves/ McConaughey family have certainly figured out what works for them!
