A goal board can be a great way to start the new school year as it will take your children out of summer-mode and give them something to achieve before next summer.
The idea of a goal board has so many benefits for not only your children, but for you and your family as a whole too.
Children will feel a great sense of achievement when they complete goals on the board. The addition of a small gift for every big goal earned will show children hard work and determination pays off in the end.
Here are some ideas of what can go on your child’s goal board:
Different languages
Most children learn different languages whether in primary school or secondary school. Learning to count to ten in five different languages or even reading a book in a foreign language can be a great achievement for your little one.
Learn to cook
It can be ten meals, or even just two, but learning to cook from a young age can be a great benefit to your children. Obviously, this goal is age-appropriate as very young children shouldn’t be near hot ovens or stoves. This may be a good one for tweens and teens who aren’t too far off from flying the nest and will benefit from learning how to cook some basic meals.
Reading list
There are so many classics out there that many children never get to read. From Little Women to Black Beauty and Treasure Island, creating a list of these books for your child to read can be really beneficial to their world view.
New hobby
It could be cycling or playing the guitar, but a new fun hobby for your child to perfect would be ideal for their life skills. They know what they like and what they are into, so give them some options and see what they would like to learn. Their ideas may surprise you!
Learn to drive
One for the teens. Learning to drive is an invaluable skill that can all too often be left too late in life. Your teen will find it easier to learn how to drive now than they will in five years. With some practice, determination and support they can be on the road before they leave home.
